Adaptations to Amelia's Life & HomeAmelia now has a new chair which when strapped in puts her in a upright standing position to help strengthen her hips, weak from lack of movement. Amelia also has a new bed which can be positioned to make her more comfortable.
There has been a lift fitted into Amelia's home so that she can be transported from upstairs/downstairs easily, the lift is very cool and essential for Amelia to move around the home. The lift is fitted with a smoke alarm to activate the lift to go in to Amelia's room so that it is air tight and smoke cannot enter. Amelia's room is now 'fire proof' and will withstand smoke & heat damage for longer due to her not being able to evacuate her home. We have the NHS & Kirklees Council to thank for their hard work & support. |
New experiences since starting HBOTSince starting HBOT Amelia has been told by the Ellerslie Centre that they have noticed improvements with Amelia's Awareness. Amelia is showing signs of being more alert and aware. Amelia has shown signs of improvement of muscle control, she has recently shown that she is able to suck on a dummy for short periods of time, this is great improvement!
Amelia likes to have messy play and likes to Paint & play with soft goo. Unfortunately, Amelia is having a lot of troubles with her Hips at the moment, she will be on a waiting list to have these looked at as they discloate very easily (common in disabled children & adults). Amelia's HBOT Trust have an appointment with a representative of P Pod for us to equipt Amelia with a lounging chair fitted to her for her comfort, for those relacing times after a hard days learning.
